You are not actually served by Sports Drinks. You have most likely been told that your sports drink is the best way to replenish your body’s electrolyte levels after a workout. Most doctors will let you know, though, that if your exercise routine isn’t going to go over ninety minutes then you should be fine just by drinking water. Sports drinks are full of calories and sugar and a heap of other stuff like artificial flavors and colors that will defeat any of your attempts at eating a natural and healthy diet. Instead, look at sipping some chocolate milk. Your body uses the sugar inside the chocolate for muscle mass repair and everyone knows how good milk is for you.
Skip your protein shakes. So many people think that having a protein shake is a good way to end cravings when it isn’t meal time. When you happen to be eating an usually healthy diet, however, a protein shake just sends you into protein overdose. Contrary to popular opinion, protein does not get saved as muscle, it gets stored as fat. This means that if you have already ingested too much protein that day, your whole body will basically store what it doesn’t need in your fat cells and that doesn’t help you lose weight or inches of your waist line at all.
Pre-packaged deli meat is not really nutritious at all. It’s generally thought that a sandwich constructed of whole grain bread along with lean pre-packaged deli meat is a pretty good lunch time item. The truth is that pre-packaged deli meat is loaded full of preservatives along with about a third of your advised daily sodium intake. This can be particularly bothersome if you are prone to heart disease. Rather than buying pre-packaged deli meat, pick some home cooked poultry or the deli meat that is freshly sliced at your deli counter. Yes you will pay more money for these options but you will be healthier if you choose them.
There are all kinds of things that we believe will help us lose weight: eating a whole wheat bagel in the morning, for example is actually a lot worse for you than a bowl of oatmeal with some cinnamon sprinkled into it for flavor. Ask your physician which items are the most effective to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you are careful about precisely what you take in and treat your body well, losing weight should not be that big of an issue for you!
